Chromogranin A is present in neuroendocrine cells throughout the body, including the neuroendocrine cells of the large and small intestine, adrenal medulla and pancreatic islets. It is an excellent marker for carcinoid tumors, pheochromocytomas, paragangliomas, and other neuroendocrine tumors. Co-expression of chromogranin A and neuron specific enolase (NSE) is common in neuroendocrine neoplasms. Reportedly, co-expression of certain keratins and chromogranin indicates neuroendocrine lineage. The presence of strong anti-chromogranin staining and absence of anti-keratin staining should raise the possibility of paraganglioma. The co-expression of chromogranin and NSE is typical of neuroendocrine neoplasms. Most pituitary adenomas and prolactinomas readily express chromogranin.Primary antibodies are available purified, or with a selection of fluorescent CF Dyes and other labels. This MAb is specific for progesterone. It exhibits minimal cross reactivity with related compounds in ELISA. It reacts with Progesterone-11a-HMS-BSA: 100%; 5-beta-Pregnane-3,20-dione: 48%; 5-alpha-Pregnane-3,20-dione: 26.4%; 17-alpha-Hydroxyprogesterone: 2.5%; 20-alpha-Hydroxyprogesterone: 0.04%. Progesterone is a steroid hormone synthesized from the cholesterol derivative, pregnenolone, in the cortex of the adrenal gland. Progesterone is secreted by the corpus luteum and acts to prepare the endometrium for the implantation of a fertilized egg. During pregnancy, it is secreted by the placenta to prevent spontaneous abortion and to stimulate the development of mammary tissue to produce milk. This MAb is specific to ER alpha and shows minimal cross-reaction with other members of the family. Epitope of this MAb is mapped between aa120-170. ER is an important regulator of growth and differentiation in the mammary gland. Biotium Giardia lamblia(BB1.1E5), CF488A conjugate, 0.1mg/mL
Giardiasisis a diarrheal illness caused by a single celled microscopic protozoan parasite, Giardia lamblia, also known as Giardia intestinalis. Giardia lamblia exists in two forms, an active form called a trophozoite, and an inactive form called a cyst. The active trophozoite attaches to the lining of the small intestine and is responsible for causing the signs and symptoms of giardiasis. The trophozoite cannot live long outside of the body and spread of infection is via the cyst, which is excreted in the host's feces. When it is ingested, stomach acid activates the cyst, and the cyst develops into the disease causing trophozoite in the new host. Recognizes a protein of 33-55 kDa, identified as CD53 (Workshop V; Code CD53.1). CD53 is expressed on monocytes, and macrophages, granulocytes, dendritic cells, osteoblasts and osteoclasts, NK cells, and on T- and B-cells from every stage of differentiation but is absent from platelets, erythrocytes, and non-haemopoietic cells. CD53 is a member of a family of tetraspan transmembrane proteins, including CD9, CD37, CD63, CD81, and CD82. It associates with integrins, MHC class II molecules, and a tyrosine phosphatase and plays a role in cellular activation as part of a signal transduction complex involving other membrane glycoproteins. Defects of CD53 expression on neutrophils appear to be related with recurrent infectious diseases. This antibody recognizes a protein of 26 kDa, identified as CD81 (Workshop VI; Code CD81.1). CD81 has a very broad cellular distribution, being expressed on T- and B-lymphocytes, NK cells, thymocytes, eosinophils, fibroblasts, epithelial and endothelial cells. Neutrophils, erythrocytes and platelets are negative, while monocytes are variably positive. CD81 is a member of a family of tetraspanin transmembrane proteins, including CD9, CD37, CD53, CD63, and CD82. It associates with CD19, CD21, Leu 13, and integrins on cell membrane and is involved in signal transduction in B lymphocyte development and cell adhesion. CD81 also acts as a receptor for the envelope protein E2 of chronic hepatitis C virus. CD45R, also designated CD45 and PTPRC, has been identified as a transmembrane glycoprotein, broadly expressed among hematopoietic cells. Multiple isoforms of CD45R are distributed throughout the immune system according to cell type. These isoforms arise because of alternative splicing of exons 4, 5, and 6. The corresponding protein domains are characterized by the binding of monoclonal antibodies specific for CD45RA (exon 4), CD45RB (exon 5), CD45RC (exon 6) and CD45RO (exons 4 to 6 spliced out). The variation in these isoforms is localized to the extracellular domain of CD45R, while the intracellular domain is conserved. CD45R functions as a phosphor-tyrosine phosphatase. This MAb reacts with all isoforms of CD45R expressed by all hematopoietic cells, except erythrocytes, having a higher level of expression on lymphocytes than on granulocytes (Workshop IV). This MAb recognizes an antigen associated with the Golgi complex in human cells only. It can be used to stain the Golgi complex in cell or tissue preparations and can be used as a Golgi marker in subcellular fractions. Monoclonal antibodies (MAbs) to liver cell processes are useful in the identification of hepatic carcinomas and normal organ structures. MAb HSA98 binds to human hepatocytes and the majority of human hepatocellular carcinomas (HCC's). In frozen sections, it stains hepatic cells and may be used as a marker of the liver. Cell preparations of hepatocellular carcinoma biopsies or cell lines are found to bind HSA98 on the cell surface.
